I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Raj Sandhu for 10 years, both as an elected official and as a friend. He is dedicated to his community and carries with him a love for family, friends, and the people of Bradford West Gwillimbury. When I worked for the Police Services Board on behalf of BWG, I appreciated his counsel, his insightfulness on issues, and his integrity. Raj considers all sides of a matter before he arrives at a decision. His calm and patient demeanor coupled with many years of experience as a Councillor will make him an excellent Deputy Mayor for your community.
I know Raj Sandhu from last the 12 years and we live in the same neighborhood. Whenever we need him, he is always there to respond to our concerns. He is always upfront, open and straightforward. I would like to share one example which shows that he is a man of his word. I used to own a small business in Bradford. In 2015 due to construction, town closed Holland Street W and West park intersection for more than a week. Due to this closure my business suffered a great deal. My store revenue went down quite significantly. I called Raj Sandhu and explained the situation. Within an hour of my call, as promised, Raj came to my store to discuss this issue. After listening to my concerns, he promised that he would try his best to find a solution. After speaking to me, he took the initiative and went to other small businesses in the plaza and heard their concerns as well. In a few days, he arranged our meeting with the Mayor and the city’s planning department to make sure our concern was being heard and would be addressed in a timely manner. As a result of Raj’s advocacy efforts, town made arrangements with the construction company to open up one lane to allow customers to come into the plaza. That was a big relief for all the businesses in the plaza. Raj also made sure that the town had placed extra signage on the road, directing people on how to get to the plaza. I have my faith in Raj Sandhu and I truly believe he is in politics to serve and support the residents of Bradford.
